Warehouse Storage Policy

This policy covers terms for storing your household or office goods in Gati's climate-controlled warehouses. Storage is offered as a standalone service or as part of a relocation when your destination isn't ready.
1. Storage facilities
Gati operates climate-controlled warehouses in:
- Mumbai — 5,000 sq ft, Andheri East
- NCR — 5,000 sq ft, Sector 80, Noida
- Bangalore — 4,000 sq ft, Whitefield
- Pune — 3,000 sq ft, Hinjewadi
- Hyderabad — 3,000 sq ft, Madhapur (partner facility)
- Chennai — 2,500 sq ft, Sholinganallur (partner facility)
1.1 Facility specifications
- Temperature controlled: 18–28°C year-round
- Humidity: 40–60% relative humidity
- Fire suppression: smoke detection + sprinkler systems, IS 3844 compliant
- Security: 24/7 CCTV with 30-day footage retention, biometric access for staff, on-site security guards
- Pest control: monthly contract with certified vendor; quarterly audit by a third party
- Insurance: facility-level insurance covers building; individual customer goods insured separately (see clause 6)
2. Storage plans
2.1 Daily plan
For short-term storage (1–14 days). Pricing: ₹35/sq ft for the first 7 days, ₹25/sq ft for days 8–14. Useful when destination move-in is delayed by a few days.
2.2 Monthly plan
Most popular plan for transitions of 2 weeks to 6 months. Pricing: ₹15/sq ft/month, billed monthly in advance. Pro-rated for partial months. Minimum 1 month commitment.
2.3 Yearly plan
For long-term storage. Pricing: ₹12/sq ft/month (~20% discount), billed quarterly in advance. Minimum 1 year commitment, with break clause after 6 months at 1-month penalty.
2.4 Volume estimates by home size

3. What you can store
Most household and office items, including:
- Furniture (cleaned, dust-covered before storage)
- Electronics (in original packaging or our packing)
- Clothing (in vacuum bags or wardrobe boxes)
- Books, documents (in waterproof storage cartons)
- Kitchen items (cleaned and dried)
- Sports equipment, fitness gear
- Vehicles (separate vehicle storage; see clause 8)
4. What you cannot store
- Cash, jewellery, precious metals, valuable documents (use a bank locker)
- Perishable food items (we don't have refrigerated storage)
- Live plants, animals, biological samples
- Flammable liquids, gas cylinders, explosives, ammunition
- Illegal substances of any kind
- Hazardous chemicals or industrial waste
- Items with strong odours that can permeate other goods (raw spices in sacks, etc.)
- Items the customer cannot legally possess
If we discover prohibited items during intake, we'll set them aside and ask you to handle them separately. Storage of prohibited items voids insurance and may result in service termination + reporting to authorities.
5. Inventory and access
5.1 Storage inventory
Every item entering storage is:
- Photographed and tagged with a unique inventory ID
- Logged into our digital inventory system with description, condition notes, and storage location (rack number, level)
- Cross-referenced to your customer profile
You'll receive a digital inventory list with photos within 48 hours of storage intake.
5.2 Customer access
- Standard access: By appointment only, between 10 AM and 5 PM weekdays. 24-hour notice required.
- Walk-in access: Not available — for security, all access is logged and supervised
- Photo updates: On request, we can send photos of specific items in your storage (free, 2 working days)
- Partial retrieval: Available; you can retrieve specific items without removing the entire storage. Handling fee ₹500 per visit.
6. Insurance for stored items
Storage insurance is optional but strongly recommended:
- Basic coverage: ₹50,000 limit, included free with all storage plans
- Standard coverage: ₹2,00,000 limit, ₹200/month add-on
- Premium coverage: ₹5,00,000 limit, ₹450/month add-on
- Custom coverage: Up to ₹50,00,000, quoted individually
Coverage is for damage caused by fire, flood, theft, pest infestation (despite our pest control), or facility-side negligence. Not covered: damage from your own poor packing, items hidden during intake, or items prohibited.
7. Retrieval and exit
7.1 Notice period
To retrieve your items in full:
- For monthly/daily plans: 24-hour notice for items up to 100 sq ft, 48 hours for larger
- For yearly plans: 7-day notice required
- Retrieval can be on weekends/evenings with a 25% surcharge
7.2 Delivery from storage
- Within the storage city: ₹2,000 local delivery (1 BHK volume), scaled by size
- To another city: full inter-city moving charges apply (per current rate card)
- Pickup from storage by you: free (you arrange your own transport)
7.3 Items you choose not to retrieve
If at the end of your storage term you don't retrieve some or all items:
- We continue billing storage at your current plan rate
- If billing remains unpaid for 90+ days, we issue legal notice
- If unpaid for 180+ days, we can auction items to recover dues (per Section 70 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872)
- Auction is the absolute last resort; we make multiple attempts to contact you first
8. Vehicle storage
Cars and motorcycles can be stored in our partner-operated covered parking facilities:
- Cars: ₹3,500/month covered, ₹2,500/month uncovered
- Motorcycles: ₹1,200/month covered
- Battery maintenance (trickle charge): ₹500/month add-on
- Monthly start-up runs: ₹300/month add-on (we run the engine for 5 minutes monthly)
9. Pricing changes
Storage rates may change with 30 days' notice. For yearly plans, your rate is locked for 1 year from agreement date. For monthly/daily plans, the new rate applies from the next billing cycle.
10. Termination by Gati
We may terminate your storage agreement (with 30-day notice) in cases of:
- Non-payment beyond 60 days
- Discovery of prohibited items in storage
- Repeated violation of access rules
- Facility closure or relocation (we'll arrange free transfer to another Gati facility)
